Renovation Project - Lisbon Portugal

Renovation Project - Lisbon Portugal
The drive to Lisbon is beautiful, we had forgotten just how beautiful Portugal is, for a country that is very hot and sunny it is also very green and lush.
We arrive at our hotel and it is so luxurious, we have stayed at this hotel before, it is not in the centre of Lisbon, but you can easily get a tube into the city.
The rooms are large and spacious and we ask if we can have a balcony, there is no problem, as we arrive in the room we are so glad that we did not pick another budget hotel, this is four star luxury, but at budget prices, by booking in advance the cost was only 51 Euros a night and this includes a large breakfast. The staff that work there are all so friendly and helpful and luckily speak perfect English. The hotel is called Real Oeiras Hotel and we highly recommend it.
We spend the first night just relaxing on the balcony with a bottle of wine and enjoy a nice dinner in the hotel.

We wake to beautiful sunshine and head to the train/tram stop. We buy a day’s ticket; this allows us to use any tram or train in the Lisbon area. If you are visiting Lisbon, it is worth buying at least a day ticket, (these can be purchased from any tram station) if you are staying longer you can buy a variety of tickets, some of which include the boat trips here is a link. Yellow Bus Tours
We spend a fantastic day in Lisbon mainly playing on the trams; our favourite is the smallest that goes up and down the city on a very steep slope, with very little space for anything too pass by.

We also take a ride on the tuck tuck, again a great experience.

Overall Lisbon is a city that should be on any bucket list, we only spent one full day here, but we could quite happily have spent many more without tiring of the city or the area.

  1. Such fun to armchair travel with you both. I have to admit to favoring the look of French cities like Bordeaux, but Lisbon looks wonderfully bright with special architecture too. We all say "one day," but you two make it happen. Good for you!
